A while back, Tickle had a promotion going on where they were giving away $25 gift certificates completely free. I picked one up, and one of the things I bought with it was the Pom Pom Luxe Feather Tickler by Bijoux Indescrets.
Sorry not to post my own image, but you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to get a good photo of a mass of black feathers!
What it is:
The Pom Pom is a bunch of soft, black feathers gathered into a small, round, plastic handle. It comes in a beautifully-designed storage box that would be appropriate for even expensive, luxury toys.
I’m not sure there’s a great way to clean the Pom Pom, so I wouldn’t recommend using it in ways that would get it dirty.
First impressions:
Like I said, the packaging for this feather tickler is really nice, and is reusable as a storage container. It has some really sleek floral designs printed onto the matte black box in shiny black ink.
The Pom Pom itself is really, really soft. I snuggled my face into the feathers, ran it along my own neck, brushed it across my arm… I just didn’t want to stop touching myself with it. The round handle was easy to grip between my finger and thumb, resulting in a tickler I could use at just about any angle.
But, as they say, you can’t tickle yourself. I had to try this thing out with a partner. Lucky for me, T was willing to be my test subject.
Actual use:
I tied T up and cycled through scratching, brushing Pom Pom across his skin, and kissing where it had just gone past. According to T, the feathers were soft and soothing after the scratches and were pleasant without being too tickle-y.
This is also great when used in conjunction with a blindfold and/or wartenberg pinwheel, or as a brief interlude during a spanking. When the implements come out for a longer session with sensation toys, the Pom Pom is just about always laid out with them.
Sometimes (but not too often) the feathers come out. This isn’t terribly surprising, considering how broadly the bunch of feathers fans out from the handle. I’ve found that it’s easy enough to stick the feathers back into the handle, as there is a hole that all of the shafts of the feathers all live in.
The bottom line:
The Pom Pom is a must have in the toybox of anyone interested in sensory play. Whether you use it along with other toys or alone to tease your partner, you will find yourself reaching for it again and again. You might even find yourself using it on your own skin; it’s really just that soft. Plus, it’s inexpensive! The Pom Pom is pretty much made of win.
By the way, you can get 15% off at Tickle with the code SAVE15. I’m not sure how long this code is good for, so use it while you can!
