When I think of Babeland, I think of them as having a fantastic selection of body-friendly vibrators, instertables, and lubes.  But, as it turns out, they also carry some less “vanilla” items that are also top quality.  They sent me the Silicone Ball Gag by Aslan Leather for review!

Please ignore the huge amount of lint in my photos this post… silicone is a lint magnet and my background for this shoot put off a shit ton.

What it is:

The Silicone Ball Gag by Aslan Leather is a high-quality, hygienically superior gag with a removable, 2″, firm silicone ball on an adjustable leather strap, which goes from 16″ to 23″.  The strap actually comes apart into three pieces: one that goes through the ball and has a loop on either end that fastens with a stainless steel snap, and two pieces with a D-ring (for the snapping loops) on one side and one half of a stainless steel buckle on the other.  The buckle is the primary way of fastening the gag, but in an emergency the gag comes off quickly by loosening the snaps.

This gag is very easy to take care of due to the silicone ball and the fact that it is removable.  Simply remove the ball from the leather strap and wash it with soap and warm water.  It can also be sterilized in all the ways other silicone can be: boil it, wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution, or run it through the dishwasher (top rack, no soap).  If it happens that the strap needs to be cleaned, Aslan recommends wiping it down with water and patting it dry immediately.  They also recommend applying a layer of clear nail polish over the stainless steel to prevent scratches and corrosion.

First impressions:

As far as packaging goes, the gag came in a simple plastic bag.  I’m not sure I minded, though, as it also came with a little card packed with useful care tips and warranty information.

The leather!  It is so soft!  All of the edges are rolled over, so there are no rough bits here.  I was impressed overall with the quality of the hardware, though I found the snaps to be a little difficult to undo.

Before my first use, I decided to take the ball off and clean it.  With some tugging, it is not difficult to get off.  But once I had washed and dried it and was ready to put it back on I ran into some difficulties.  The snap and leather strap are just barely the right size to fit through the hole, and the strap is bendy enough that you can’t force it through.  I ended up using the rounded back end of some tweezers to push it through.  Be careful to use something rounded while doing this so as to avoid scratching or otherwise damaging the leather.

I have very thick hair that I usually wear pulled back, and so this added extra bulk for the strap to go around.  When I tried on the gag, I ended up putting the buckle at the third- or second-to-last hole.  If you have a very large head (or more hair than me… not sure that that’s possible), this gag might not fit you.  If in doubt, wrap some string around where you think you’d wear the gag, and then measure that with a tape measure.

Actual use:

I consider myself to have a fairly small mouth, or at least one that doesn’t open terribly wide.  It was surprising to me, then, that the 2″ ball fit comfortably in my mouth.  The way it fit most naturally was with the ball slightly behind my teeth.  In this position, there was enough pressure on my tongue that I couldn’t swallow the saliva building up in my mouth.  This wasn’t the effect I was specifically going for, but it added to the overall intensity of the experience.

I am slightly orally fixated, and I like having things in my mouth, sexually.  Kissing, nibbling, biting, and sucking are all things I like in my sex.  Of course I like cock (not for biting!), but also having fingers thrust in my mouth, nibbling on my partner’s chest, nipping at flesh on arms or back… I love it all.  But I also like doggy-style sex.  What do I put in my mouth when my partner is out of reach?  Well, a ball gag, apparently.  Aside from the thrill I get from giving up control, I just liked having it in my mouth.

The bottom line:

Aside from ease of ball removal, I can’t think of a single thing I’d suggest be improved about the Silicone Ball Gag.  The leather is fantastic, the silicone is just the right firmness, and the buckle and snaps are easy to use.  The size of the ball was perfect for me, but might not be quite right for everyone.  If you’re looking for a high quality, hygienic gag, I would strongly suggest giving this one a try.  It has definitely heightened my interest in trying other Aslan Leather products!
