The Share is a toy I had to think very hard about before accepting for review from TabuToys. It was a toy I really wanted, but because I don’t currently have a partner who will receive penetration I had to be sure I could still give a thorough review. I’ve taken a little bit of extra time to get to know the Share so that I can tell you all about its ins and outs.
What it is:
The Share is a special kind of double-ended dildo from Fun Factory. Some describe this style as a “strapless strap-on”. Basically, the bulbous end is inserted into the vagina of the “giver” so that she can penetrate the receiver. A woman might use this toy to penetrate a man or woman, and a man might theoretically use this worn anally for double-penetration with a woman. Or, an individual can use it solo with penetration from the longer end, or gender-bending, g-spot-stimulating masturbation with the shorter end worn internally.
This isn’t a dildo to be taken lightly. At aboult 9″ long, 5″ tall, and anywhere from 1.25″ to 2″ around, the Share doesn’t even fit in my box o’ silicone. The longer portion has a semi-realistic shape, with a somewhat abstracted head and long taper. The shorter portion is shaped like a kidney bean. The space in between the two is scooped out to follow the curve of the vulva and mons.
The Share is 100% silicone, which is very important for a toy that is meant to be shared (it’s even right there in the name). To sterilize it, you can submerge it in boiling water for 3 minutes, or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. You should sterilize it before swapping ends with your partner, between using it for anal and vaginal penetration, and before you use it with a new partner. For solo use or use with a fluid-bonded partner, it should suffice to wash it with mild soap and warm water.
Why I wanted one:
Okay, okay. I don’t have a girl to test this out with, and T isn’t taking anything in the butt. Why would I want the Share?
First of all, the long portion makes a great dildo all on its own. It even has a handle that makes it easy for me to use all by myself! Or, my partner can hold onto it while he uses it on me.
But the reason why I wanted this instead of a simple single-ended dildo is so I could indulge the genderqueer part of my sexuality. I don’t talk about it a whole lot on here because it’s the one part of my sexuality I’m not entirely comfortable with talking about yet. As someone who tends to date heterosexual males (though I do like the wimmenz, finding a female that is what I’m looking for in a girlfriend, is interested in women, and also happens to be interested in me has been a historically difficult combination), it seems a little strange that I would like to play at having a cock, even on my own. I’m afraid that, despite the fact that I regularly discuss my BDSM activities and sticking toys up my ass, talking about gender-bending as something I find to be a huge turn-on would be too “weird” or “gross” for my readers. I’m just going to have to risk it and hope all of you are mature, open-minded individuals who won’t shun me for enjoying something a little different.
When I decided to accept the Share for review, it was because I thought it would be incredibly hot to insert the shorter end vaginally and jack off. It’s something I’ve tried with other toys, but because they weren’t quite made for simulating a cock the experience, while hot, was a little lacking. Because the Share comes into contact with the g-spot, much of the vulva, and the clit, stroking it while inserted should stimulate my girl-bits at least somewhat while I make believe I have boy bits.
Actual use:
So, despite the fact that I don’t have a receiving partner to use the Share on, I did a little bit of testing to see how it might function in that capacity, since I know many of those interested in this toy would want to use it that way. I inserted the short end vaginally. I needed to use some lube despite the fact that I was already turned on due to the sheer size of this toy and the matte silicone. Once inserted, I had no problem keeping it in. It’s huge, and the shape of the bean helps hook it behind my pubic bone. I stood up. Here’s the part where I heard other reviewers complain: the elbow joining the short and long ends of the Share is floppy, meaning the long end (or cock analog) doesn’t stand out from the body at the jaunty angle one might expect. For me, this was actually mitigated by my meaty thighs, which supported the cock analog from below. I feel fairly confident that if I were to use this with a receiving partner that I would, with some manual guidance, have successful penetration and thrusting.
I had T hold the short end so that he could fuck me with the long end. After a bit of experimenting with different angles, T easily guided the curve of the shaft right up into my g-spot. It felt a lot like being fucked with a real cock in spoons position, my most reliable for during-intercourse orgasms, even thought I was on my back. The nice curve and having the shorter end as an easy-to-hold handle makes it very easy to get penetration at just the right angle. T held the Share at the thin joint just behind the longer end. He says that he didn’t even try holding it by the bean because he felt that the joint was too flexible for him to be able to maintain the kind of control he needed to keep hitting my g-spot.
For my main intentions, the Share didn’t quite do it for me. The joint was just too flexible for any movement on the cock analog to have an effect on my g-spot. The scoop was also just too big for me to get any kind of meaningful contact on my clit. It did look great, however, and was a huge turn-on. It was nice to be able to thrust into my hand, I was just hoping for more stimulation.
I’ve had the chance to grope a number of double-ended dildos fashioned in this style, and the least floppy I found was the Feeldoe, which TabuToys also carries. While it is more expensive, it manages to dodge the Share’s biggest problems and adds vibration into the equation. I can’t give it a full endorsement, though, as I haven’t actually tried it out.
The bottom line:
The Share has a lot of promise, but so much of what I wanted to do with it was lessened at least somewhat by its floppy joint. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy playing with it… I especially enjoyed being penetrated with the longer end. It was a lot of fun no matter how I used it, but it was obvious that certain improvements could be made to the design.
Thanks, TabuToys, for sending me the Fun Factory Share!

You’re not gonna weird us out. Well, not me anyway.

I’m not weirded out either.
Healthy (and fun) part of sexuality.
I’ve always wanted one of these, but I’m not quite sure my pelvic floor is strong enough for it.
