Babeland sent me the Cloud 9 vibrator to review!  I was especially excited about it as the product description over at Babeland specifically says that the Cloud 9 does away with the high-pitched buzzing that many vibrators unfortunately produce.  I also thought it would be interesting as it is described as being good for both external and internal use.

What it is:

The Cloud 9 is a splashproof, hard plastic vibrator, about 4.5″ long and 1.75″ in diameter.  It has a velvety soft coating and a number of stimulating textural details.  The main body of the Cloud 9 has two bulges, one at the top and one halfway down the shaft.  The top bulge is tilted slightly and has five smaller, round bumps running across it longitudinally.  The vibration speed can be adjusted by turning the knob at the base.  The base unscrews to reveal the battery compartment, which takes two AA batteries.

This toy can be cleaned with soap and water, but can never be completely sterilized.  This means that you should cover it with a condom if you want to share it with someone else.

First impressions:

The Cloud 9 is made by Cal Exotics, and so it comes in fairly standard Cal Exotics packaging: a cardboard box with pictures of the toy on it and minimal information, and the shrink-wrapped toy rattling around on the inside.  Not the best presentation, but I appreciated the minimal plastic used in packaging that I was just going to toss, anyway.

All that aside, I was impressed with the quality of the toy.  Cal Exotics toys seem to be fairly hit-or-miss, and I know I’ve tried a number of their toys that I was less than enthusiastic about.  This toy has a nice solid feel to it and feels like it is made to last.  The bottom of the toy unscrews smoothly, and goes back on just as easily.  Once I popped the batteries in, I tried out the vibrations.  They started out with a light rumble and, with a turn of the knob, maxed out at a quiet but deep vibration that I could feel throughout my whole hand.

Actual use:

My experiences with the Cloud 9 did not match up with my expectations, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy this vibe.  I thought that the smaller bumps would feel great dragged across my vulva and clit, but in practice I actually had trouble feeling them at all.  The wonderful, deep, rumbly vibrations kind of took away my ability to perceive that level of detail.

I was also looking forward to using this vibrator internally, as I really enjoy girthier toys when I’m in the right mood.  While I had trouble feeling the bumps externally, I had no trouble feeling them during insertion and just couldn’t get comfortable.  The hard plastic lumps and bumps distributed pressure unevenly, and I had a hard time using it to stimulate my g-spot.

Aside from that, I did really enjoy using the Cloud 9 as an external vibe.  The vibrations are concentrated near the tip, so it’s pretty easy to put them wherever I need them.  The notches on the knob made it easy to turn even when my fingers were all lube-y.  The quality of the vibrations is not entirely unlike an extremely toned-down Hitachi.  While I not have much success using this vibrator during sex, I did enjoy using it during longer solo sessions, and during foreplay with T.

The bottom line:

So, I didn’t make it all the way to cloud 9 with the Cloud 9.  Maybe cloud 7.  Still very enjoyable, with a deeper, rumblier quality of vibration that is difficult to find in toys that won’t vibrate your clit off.  Based on my own experiences with this toy I can’t personally recommend it as an insertable vibe, but others have had more luck with it than I did.  I have a feeling I’ll be enjoying the Cloud 9 as a delicious external vibe for many orgasms to come.

Thanks, Babeland, for letting me try out the Cloud 9!
